Taleweaver Patch 3

It's finally here! Post Release patch 3 has tons of new stuff! This isn’t just a few tweaks. Major additions have been added. Old rules have been refined. Vague rules have been defined better. This is a major overhaul to the system. I am so excited. Lets go over it:

  • Paths: The culmination of all the narrative threads influencing a Travelers journey. This will replace the Lifepath and belief, providing each traveler with a personal quest they must overcome in order to gain further efficiency in their skills.
Players will have their fortune told and select between the fates to determine what your present predicament is. Overcoming predicaments marks an "act" in your 3 act journey, slowly building on itself as you forge a legacy.
  • Aves: a new playable species. They have been a playable Pregens in the Doomed island of Ma Suli. They have now found themselves comfortably nested in the Core rulebook
  • Examples: follow Max, Alex, and Harper as they summarize the rules at the end of each section.
  • Revised Encounters: Encounters have a new action economy, allowing the Taleweaver to split their actions in a round.
Encounter examples have been revised for ease of usage.
  • Daunt: Too many failures and mixed success give an encounter an additional action.
  • Pursuit Skills: Travelers have an organized list to select skills from. Explanation on skill use and overlapping capabilities are expanded on.
  • Removed and replaced any known traces of old vernacular.
  • Several all new typos to find

This isn’t the end of the updates either. We do have another major announcement.

Now Itchfunding

We are officially Itchfunding! After a lot of consideration about running a Kickstarter, I decided this is the healthier option.

  • Reason 1: I have seen one or two peers run a Kickstarter campaign. It's stressful. It can be sleepless at some points. For those without any credentials, it can be a terrifying uphill battle where you do not know if your project will even succeed.
  • Reason 2: These revisions being added are because of the community playing the game. I don’t want to just sell a pretty book with mediocre rules. I want to know people are playing the game and build the game that plays best for those people.

The end goal for Itchfunding is a physical copy. Taleweaver will be a small book (A5 for you paper nerds) you can fit into a purse alongside a tarot deck. I want accessibility and portability to be at the forefront.

If you have already purchased through itch, thank you! You have pushed us closer to the end goal. If you want to contribute more, you certainly can. All the funding is going to save up for a print run.

What about DriveThru RPG?

Taleweaver is also up on Drivethru. I decided that purchases over there will simply be recouping the art costs. Inside baseball but I do not get many sales over there and even if I did, Drive Thru takes a decent chunk. So, stick with Itch for the fundraising.

Let's go over the stretch goals, shall we? We have two types of goals. Newsletter goals, for those who have subscribed to our Newsletter on Doubleram.com and Financial goals for purchasing on Itch.
